Pouvoirie du Lac Blanc is located in the Lanaudiére Mauricie region of Quebec, not far the village of Saint-Alexis-des-Monts. Colloquially, the region is often “Quebec Authentique.”

This Quebec resort sits on a huge, gorgeous piece of land that showcases the best that the province has to offer. On 3500 hectares, they’ve got a beautiful forest, twelve lakes, and even some mountains (which we were able to see from the seat of a helicopter – but more on that later!).

They’ve got 12 cabins in total, as well as 21 rooms available at their inn to go along with some delicious cuisine, and no shortage of outdoor adventure. The best part? This is a year-round resort, so whenever you’re looking to get away, to get off-the-grid for a moment, and to take a deep breathe of fresh air, you’re covered at Pouvoirie du Lac Blanc.

About Pourvoirie du Lac Blanc

It’s worth noting that Pourvoirie du Lac Blanc is a resort, but they also see themselves as outfitters to help guests explore the natural elements of their property. They’re prepared to offer a unique sort of resort stay, where you can catch a fish in one of their lakes in the afternoon, then shortly thereafter enjoy that very fish for dinner.

“Nature is our livelihood. Our outdoor activities will make you discover the harmony of comfort, pleasure and nature.”

Pourvoirie du Lac Blanc officially opened all the way back in 1995, and since then, it has become a favourite among Quebecers, Canadians, and a lot of international clientele. They started out with 12 cottages, but in 2001 decided to really expand operations. They added rooms, a bar, a lounge, a sugar shack, and small beach, several kilometres of multi-use trails, and bought 2000 more acres of land!

Not bad, right?!

The hotel was then expanded in 2007, and some work was done on the dining room, and that was followed shortly thereafter by a swimming pool, spa, and more.

They haven’t stopped since either, as it was only in 2019 that they renovated the Main Inn, added a few more rooms, and renovated and expanded the kitchen.

Pourvoirie du Lac Blanc is committed to continuing to improve and ensuring its customers leave satisfied. We know that we certainly did.

What’s on Offer at This Quebec Resort?

If it happens outdoors here, it’s likely you can find a way to do it, but there are a few things that they specialize in that you should have your eye on if you decide to come stay here. We’ll run through what those things are so that you’re well prepared for your stay.

Of Course, Accommodation

You’ve got a number of options for where to rest your head here. We were happily situated at The Spacious Cottage, but they have 12 cottages in total. You can learn more about their cottages here, and if you’ve got any questions, you can contact them rather easily.

Beyond cottages, they have rooms available as well, and they also have some glamping arrangements which they call a “Longhouse” that’s located about 2.5 kilometres from the Main Inn.

The Spacious Cottage, where we stayed, was just a 5 minute walk from the Main inn, and it offers an absolutely stunning view of Lac Blanc. For reference, the cottage can comfortably sleep up to 12 people.

Fishing Galore

This resort is perhaps best known for its fishing opportunities, and that’s why two of the packages they offer are centred around fishing.

There are 10 lakes for speckled trout fishing. These are large trout as well, typically around 10-14 inches in size. The lakes are well stocked, and that’s why they like to say:

“At the Lac Blanc Outfitter, you’ll get bites every time!”

They are also well known for their rainbow trout, which often weigh between 3 and 5 pounds!

They also do ice-fishing as well, which is actually very popular there, and they say, “your fishing results will be just as memorable as your results in the summer; the quantity and quality are waiting for you under the ice.”

For full details on timing and pricing, you can check out their fishing page!

A Great Restaurant

You can stop by the bar and have a drink after your fishing escapades if you like, but we’d recommend that you have a meal here if you can. The food is fantastic!

Over the years, they’ve developed some homemade specialities that aren’t to be missed. For example, their famous Lac Blanc Trout Chowder. They also do a number of other dishes with their smoked trout that are worth trying such as the Smoked Trout Bagel for breakfast!

If you enjoy eating fish, this is a fantastic place to do just that. We had the Trout Tournedos with Wild Mushrooms, and it was scrumptious. They have a Trout Filet Stuffed with Spinach and Ricotta as well, and a Canadian Yellow Pickerel Filet.

If you want something a bit different, consider the Trout Tartare!

Don’t worry, if you don’t like fish or seafood, there are plenty of other options, we’re just trying to highlight what they’re best known for.

An Incredible Array of Summer Activities

When it’s a warm out in Canada, we like to take advantage of it, and it turns out that the folks at Lac Blanc Outfitter feel the same! Here’s are some of the summer activities on offer:

  • Visiting the sugar shack to learn more about the collection and transformation of maple syrup – with a little tasting, of course, as well.
  • Paddling in a “Rabaska,” which is a traditional Algonquin bark canoe that can have up to ten people on board.
  • Observing bears from their installation in the heart of the forest.
  • A clay pigeon shoot-off between family and friends.
  • Riding ATVs around different sites on the property.
  • Paddle boarding on beautiful Lac Blanc.
  • Renting a pontoon for up to 8 hours amongst friends and family.

Activities That Showcase the Beauty of Quebec’s Winter

What’s the old expression? Ah yes, “there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing.”

So, bundle up and see if you’d like to be a part of any of these activities:

  • Riding a snowmobile for a few hours, or even a full day.
  • Go Snowshoeing with a trapper out in the forest
  • Hop on a dog sled ride with two people per sled.
  • Go on a “dream expedition” that combines some hiking, eating, and fishing!
  • Be a passenger on a Snowmobile Bombardier B12 which will make you feel like you’re back in the 1940s.
  • Learn survival tactics for winter with an expert.

Take a Breathtaking Helicopter Flight

If you really want to get an understanding of the vastness of the Lac Blanc Outfitter territory, then a helicopter ride is an awfully good way to do it.

They offer helicopter flights in both the summer and winter months, we should add. We were lucky enough to get up in a helicopter in the fall, and it was quite literally one of the most incredible experiences we’ve had across this country. Thankfully, the colours were even deeper when we visited La Mauricie National Park days later!

If you’re looking to splurge on something truly magical, this is it.

The Lac Blanc Outfitter in Lanaudière Mauricie Awaits!

Pourvoirie du Lac Blanc has been around for a long time, and a staple of the Quebec Authentique region. Once you visit, it’s not hard to understand why that is. We also love that they’re always adding things to the mix, testing out new adventures, and not scared to try new things.

It’s what makes it so easy to imagine returning over and over again, as so many people from Canada and around the world do. In fact, we already can’t wait to return, and we’re sure that if you choose to visit, you won’t be disappointed.

We want to humbly thank Lanaudiére Mauricie for hosting us as media. All opinions are completely our own.
