We picked up an electric rental campervan from Bromont Campervan and hit the road. Coaticook, to visit the magnificent gorge and take in the nighttime Foresta Lumina lightshow, and Mont-Megantic National Park, for epic hiking, fall foliage, and one of the coolest space museums outside of the Cosmodome in Laval.

But let’s be honest, this article is all about craft breweries. Sure, there are loads of things to do in the Eastern Townships, but let’s keep beer on target.

Microbrasserie à l’Abbordage

We launched into some of the local hiking trails in Bromont, checking out Domaine Naturel Lac Gale and breathing in the fresh fall air mixed with a smattering of early fall colours. All around us were cyclists, mountain, road, and even a few BMXers, and after a day on the trails, they were all streaming toward one place.

Conveniently located right across the street from Coaticook’s famous creamerie, Microbrasserie Coaticook balances innovation with tradition. The boys and I snagged a spot on their patio prior to the Foresta Lumina show. We dug into duck poutine and fish and chips while I sipped on a flight that showcased the brewery’s commitment to quality.
